The Dandy

The Dandy look comes from the creative 1960’s when men wanted to make a difference with their dress style. This is a unique look which requires the mix of radical fabric usage and the tradition of bespoke tailoring to create the image of perfectionism.

Dandys from the past, like Salvador DalĂ or Oscar Wilde, have always been busy with their appearance and created their own garments with the help of bespoke tailors to represent themselves differently.

Although dandyism is colorful and decadent, it has to have clean patterns and colors. A grey checked suit with its clear lines and edges gives an impression of seriousness. Also mixing a light grey with a darker shaded brown combines the classic colors and creates an interesting opposite of tradition and modern.

A plain, well fitting white shirt represents the cleanliness and fanciness of the Dandy. Adding details like a plain light purple tie or a flower gives the contrast and the modern nobility to the garment but still matches perfectly with the classic colors. Also a matching purple handkerchief in the jacket’s pocket gives the impression of perfectionism and demand for quality.
