Geacht bestuur,

Dit jaar zijn jullie aan de beurt de eer van de vereniging hoog te houden.
Bedrijfsbezoeken, congressen organiseren. Vergaderen en handen schudden.
En, als we jullie een beetje kennen, af en toe een borreltje.

Het wordt een druk jaar.

Een goed pak mag daarbij zeker niet ontbreken.
Succes begint immers bij een succesvolle uitstraling.

En hoe doe je dat beter dan met een maatpak?

Alhoewel, wij van De Oost noemen onze pakken liever ‘bespoke’.
Dat betekend dat onze pakken geen confectiepakken zijn, die vervolgens op maat worden gemaakt. Maar echt op uw wensen en lichaam gesneden pakken.

Eigenlijk een lijn voor de zogenaamde executive suite,
maar met onze speciale selectie van Engelse en Italiaanse stoffen ook uitermate geschikt voor besturen van studenten -en studieverenigen.

Normaliter nemen wij opdrachten aan v/a € 600, bij de Board Special beginnen de tarieven v/a € 300 all in.
Dus een zakelijk kledingadvies, het vermaken van uw kleding en de BTW zijn inbegrepen.
Dit uiteraard met de bedoeling u op jongere leeftijd kennis te laten maken met de meerwaarde van een persoonlijke kleermaker/couturier.

Werkwijze: Om u dit speciale tarief te kunnen bieden stellen we de volgende voorwaarden om samen te werken:
1. Uw groep bestaat uit minimaal 5 personen die dezelfde stof kiezen.

Vervolgens wordt u geholpen zoals elke individuele klant. Zie werkwijze. U heeft dus volledige vrijheid in keuze qua model en afwerking.

Wenst u een 2-knoops pak dan kan dat. Wenst uw collega een 1-knoops pak dan is dat geen probleem. Wenst u een broek en/of rok dan is dat mogelijk. De voorzitter een klassieke Britse look en de dames een sportievere Italiaanse styling, geen probleem. Dezelfde kleur binnenvoering of allemaal anders, ook dat kan. Na gisteren van de schrik bekomen te zijn merk ik tot mijn teleurstelling op dat onze premier het slecht zittende pak van gisteren vandaag gewoon weer aan heeft getrokken.

In bepaalde posities is dit niet te accepteren, mijnheer Rutte is het gezicht van een compleet land. Je dan kleden in een confectie pak dat je ook nog meerdere dagen achter elkaar draagt is geen bijdrage aan een positieve associatie.

Dat brengt mij bij mijn eerste punt qua zakelijk kledingadvies. Zorg dat u meerdere pakken heeft zodat u kunt rouleren en variëren. Dit is wel zo fris en het zorgt ervoor dat uw kleding minder snel slijt.

Pasvorm: Wanneer men een pak van het rek koopt dan zien we direct een issue ontstaan qua pasvorm. Dit omdat er met standaard maatverhoudingen wordt gewerkt en geen enkel mens daadwerkelijk deze maten en/of verhoudingen heeft. Bij Mark zien we dat zijn broek simpelweg veel te groot is voor zijn postuur. Dit is jammer omdat zo de karakteristieke lijn dat een goed gesneden en passend pak u geeft niet mogelijk is. De pasvorm is en blijft het fundament voor de well dressed gentlemen. Het jasje sluit ansich goed aan op de nek en schouders dus met een goede broek zou het plaatje er een stuk beter uitzien.

The Jacket – Het Jasje:

If you look to a jacket you actually see a triangle – the line of the lapel going up from the highest closing button to the shoulder. The lower the button the longer the lapel and the slimmer you become.

Wanneer u naar uw jasje kijkt ziet u een driehoek – de lijn van het rever die omhoog loopt naar de schouder vanaf uw hoogste sluitknoop. Hoe lager uw knoop is geplaatst des te langer is het rever en des te slanker u oogt.

Another point is the height of the notch and the shape of it. A peak lapel adds more length then one that is cut away to the side since the line of the lapel is prolongued. When you have your jackets made then make sure the height of the notch is equal to your shoulder so you have maximum effect.

Een ander punt is de hoogte van het rever en de vorm. Een opgesneden rever geeft meer lengte dan een weggesneden soort. Dit omdat de lijn van het rever verder doorloopt. Wanneer u uw jasjes / colberts laat maken zorg dan dat de hoogte van het rever gelijk is aan de schouderlijn om maximaal effect te scheppen.

It seems that our prime Minister has a strong preference for his baby blue tie. Keeping in mind that the face is the destination to which one’s attire should escort the beholders attention, then this is not the best choice.

In the left picture he wears a combination of a dark frame (suit) combined with a white shirt and a light blue tie. The issue with this assembly is the fact that in combination with his skin and hair complexion there is not enough contrast. Due to this the eye of the beholder is not aimed at the face but to the garment(s).

A better combination of colors is the right picture. The color of the suit is closer to his own complexion as the shirt is also. A ground rule is that the ensemble should exhibit the same degree of contrast manifested by one’s skin and hair tones. The tie is actually a very good choice since it matches with his hair tone. The combination off all leads to a more clear presentation of his person (his face) and by that his whole ensemble assists in his representation.

Balance; Garment balance is the adjustment of the relation of one section of a garment to another in harmony with the natural figuration of the customer. Usually referring to the front and back of the garment.

Balance marks; Notches, nips or threads in the garment parts which help to preserve the balance of the garment during assembly.

Bar tack; A reinforcement by means of repeated stitching. Used at the end of buttonholes, pocket corners and belt loops.

Bearer; A section of cloth inside the trouser waistband, at the top of the fly, to take the weight of the trousers when fastened.
