Naar aanleiding van een bezoek in ons atelier kreeg ik de volgende vraag: ‘ik wil graag een stevig binnenwerk ipv. het soepelere zoals u dat normaliter gebruikt, kan dat?

Dat kan zeer zeker en dit is ook waar wij onze uitdaging in vinden. Het binnenwerk is het canvas van linnen met paardenhaar dat stevigheid / vorm geeft aan het jasje.

We zien dat dit over de jaren heen steeds soepeler is geworden of zelfs niet meer word gebruikt. Juist deze parameter is een teken van een kwalitatieve make en door het wijzigen van het canvas kan je de kleding zich anders laten gedragen en geeft het een nog mooier silhouet.

Ik zou adviseren hier alleen mee aan de slag te gaan als u al veel ervaring heeft met kleermakers of het dragen van verschillende soorten pakken qua materiaal, gewicht en manier van maken. Dit vanwege de complexiteit en samenhangende kosten vanwege het additionele handwerk.

Balance; Garment balance is the adjustment of the relation of one section of a garment to another in harmony with the natural figuration of the customer. Usually referring to the front and back of the garment.

Balance marks; Notches, nips or threads in the garment parts which help to preserve the balance of the garment during assembly.

Bar tack; A reinforcement by means of repeated stitching. Used at the end of buttonholes, pocket corners and belt loops.

Bearer; A section of cloth inside the trouser waistband, at the top of the fly, to take the weight of the trousers when fastened.

Sometimes your suit has to be neutral due to your specific business and/or role. Actually it opens the door to further personalize your jacket while keeping it classic and easy to combine with shirts and ties. Remember: when it is concerned a formal suit – the focus must be on you (your face) not on your suit.

Especially blue and grey colors are good to combine with contrasting colors. In this project we used a striped lining to make a contrast with the cloth. You see the white color coming back in the buttonhole.
