Dit jaar zijn jullie aan de beurt de eer van de vereniging hoog te houden.
Bedrijfsbezoeken, congressen organiseren. Vergaderen en handen schudden.
En, als we jullie een beetje kennen, af en toe een borreltje.
Het wordt een druk jaar.
Een goed pak mag daarbij zeker niet ontbreken.

Normaliter nemen wij opdrachten aan v/a € 600, bij de Board Special beginnen de tarieven v/a € 300 all in.
Dus een zakelijk kledingadvies, het vermaken van uw kleding en de BTW zijn inbegrepen.
Dit uiteraard met de bedoeling u op jongere leeftijd kennis te laten maken met de meerwaarde van een persoonlijke kleermaker/couturier.
Werkwijze: Om u dit speciale tarief te kunnen bieden stellen we de volgende voorwaarden om samen te werken:
1. Uw groep bestaat uit minimaal 5 personen die dezelfde stof kiezen.
Vervolgens wordt u geholpen zoals elke individuele klant. Zie werkwijze. U heeft dus volledige vrijheid in keuze qua model en afwerking.
Wenst u een 2-knoops pak dan kan dat. Wenst uw collega een 1-knoops pak dan is dat geen probleem. Wenst u een broek en/of rok dan is dat mogelijk. De voorzitter een klassieke Britse look en de dames een sportievere Italiaanse styling, geen probleem. Dezelfde kleur binnenvoering of allemaal anders, ook dat kan. Body shapes of pear, banana, apple, triangle, H, T go on and on and on. I don’t know about you but my body does not fit these categories and nor does my long body fit into the average silhouette of ”body shape clothing”. The unique aspect for bespoke clothing is that your body is not classified as a certain body shape. Whether bespoke or off-the-rack, your body proportions can be simplified into 3 sections and each section is 1/3 of your body (excluding neck and head) a.k.a. portions
Today’s Topic is shoulders to waist.
Broad shoulders: you already display a sense of confidence so you don’t have to dramatize your shoulders. Avoid large shoulder pads, puffed shoulders, and wide lapels. This also depends on the size of your bust. Ideally, bigger busts should find jackets with no lapel to avoid a top heavy look and feel. If a lapel is desired, a longer and narrow length is better and makes your upper body look longer. Certain box shaped jackets like Coco Chanel’s may not be your best solution either because it is over bearing. To avoid top heavy shirts, divert the focus by wearing a V shape or wide neckline for your shirts. This creates balance. If you have broad shoulders and small busts, most of the same rules apply except for the fact that your shirts and dresses that have collars or thicker straps. Wide shaped garments take away your bust.
Narrow shoulders: Everything can take on the opposite. For example, extended shoulders (like my lasted post: Style of Emmanuelle Alt), puff shoulders, padded shoulders, larger lapels can do wonders for you. It gives you a stronger presense. Smaller armholes are better for you because too big of an armhole can make you seem like you’re drowning in your jacket, shirts, and dresses. As for small or big busts for shirts, the same rules apply as stated in the last paragraph.
Fitted Waists: You should always be fitted properly to your waist size. When the waist is fitted to you, it gives you that hour glass shape even if you don’t have that naturally. Creating an illusion to fix flaws or embrace them. For those who have a shorter torso and you want to find a jacket that fits you, make sure the jacket have no more than 2 buttons. Anything more than two button shortens you even more. Again, longer and leaner lapels give length to your torso. Longer torso can take on more buttons but again the key is to have a fitted waist in your clothing. We will address the length of the jacket in our next blog post because the length of the jacket really depends the 2nd portion of your body: waist to knees.
Save money, time, discomfort and your image for first impressions by understanding your body proportions. All the rules I listed can be bent because every person’s body is different. Don’t stereotype your physique.

‘Behoort een broek op de schoen te vallen of er boven te zweven?’
Dit kan in principe beide. Hetgeen dat je jezelf af kan vragen is ten eerste wat wil ik uitstralen met mijn broek.
Een kortere broek geeft een vlotter voorkomen, een Italiaanse associatie. Een broek die op de schoen valt en/of tot de hak doorloopt is klassieker en formeler, een Britse associatie.
Persoonlijk zou ik broeken die smart casual worden gedragen, Chino’s, kort laten maken en een broek behorend bij een kostuum op de Britse wijze.
Wanneer je wat verder bent met je garderobe kan je hiermee gaan spelen en een uniek “Personal Brand’neerzetten met je kledingstijl.
Tip: Als je wilt weten wat de gevolgen zijn als je broek korter wordt. Kom dan langs bij ons atelier en laat je broek gewoon afspelden, dan zie en voel je de gevolgen en kan je bewust je keuze maken. Je kan je bestaande broeken ook door ons laten vermaken/aanpassen.
As a player a good one but as a coach quite a special one. We are talking about Pep Guardiola – head coach Barcelona FC.
Famous for brilliant football but also for his look & style. So let’s see where his style is about and how you can create this.
The suit: Mr. Guardiola is mostly seen in 2 basic colors namely black and a tone of grey. This helps to create a frame that displays a sharp line in his suit. The jackets are 2 buttons placed underneath the breast bone so it prolongs the lapel that makes him appear slimmer then he is. If you look closely you will see that the top of his lapel is almost equal to the line of his shoulder, yet another way to create a V-shaped torso. As for as I could see the cloth he uses is a classic lightweight wool suitable for the Spanish climate. When you do not adept the weight of your suiting cloth to the environment you might start to look like a person coming from the hamam while wearing a suit. As far as I can see the cloth is plain and/or with a micro weave like sharkskin.

His trousers have a little trick. If you look well you will see that it are not the classic trouser models but a more modern Italian style that could be worn without the jacket also. So no pleats but a flat front and not to high on the hips. The difficulty for Mr. Guardiola is to keep a sharp line from top to bottom of his trousers due to athletic legs. If you want a tight look then you lose comfort in the fit or you go the other way round, let your tailor advice you. The finishing touch is the belt and actually the buckle. It creates a smart-casual look that is complementary to the Barcelona FC image and his age.
The shirt: Always a crispy white or Italian baby blue. The most basic needs for a man are these shirts since they can be combined with all sorts of jackets and ties. Use the white for a more distinctive look, white cretes contrast especially with a darker suit. Blue gives a more approachable but still professional look. To a judge you do not speak – he wears black and white. An officer you ask for help and should be trusted – he wears blue.
The tie: Is the core pillar of his style and because of it the whole outfit works for Mr. Guardiola. Finally we see a man who took a few seconds in the mirror trying several ties with different sizes on. His body type is quite slim so when you wear a normal size tie, width of 8/9 cm, it fills up his whole torso and the prerogative changes. So he has a 6 cm or even slimmer tie that makes him appear again longer and slimmer and attracts the attention to his face.

A genuine bespoke tailor has an arsenal of little tricks and ways to achieve the desired look for his/her clients.
Often we see men with trouser bottoms that are too long. When this occurs you immediately loose that silhouette acquainted with a well dressed look.
The solution is very simple when you have cuff-less trouser bottoms; just have your bottoms cut in a slanted matter. So the front side is about 1,5 cm. shorter than the back side. This makes sure that the front side just touches your shoe instead of laying down on it as additional fabric without reason.

In the picture above, is a project crafted for one of our clients. She wished to have the essence of style, comfort, warmth, and to reduce the layers of clothing under her overcoat while she travels. In order to accomplish her request, we had to focus on the ‘wearing properties’ for the weight of the fabric and the structure of fine wool, cashmere wool, or rugged tweed.
The weight of ‘Coating’ fabrics range from 350-500grams/15-18oz for warm weather to 500-650grams/18-20oz for colder climates. A thicker lining is the finishing touch to seal in the heat. Once the weight is established, then we can conclude your style and color palette. The appropriate weight of fabric leaves room for your coat to be shaped around you to move freely and lets your poised confidence be seen. The quality of ‘coating’ fabrics lets you wear fewer layers during the winter and helps you achieve more results that you want for your bespoke coat.
