Snowy River HS 1032 Blue Lake is one of Australia’s five glacial lakes and is situated in the mountainous region known as the “Snowies”. It’s this region that has become one of the main sources of the Snowy River. The river is notable for its high volume of fresh water, wide reach and large rapids, while the national park provides one of the last natural habitats for a number of endangered species. The Snowy River region of Australia is peopled today by the descendants of the early settlers who introduced the original merino flocks into Australia over a century ago. Lush pastures and idyllic weather conditions make this area of Australia a perfect habitat for the finest Merino sheep. Through careful breeding and a nutritional diet of fresh grass and herbs they have managed to refine the merino blood line which has led to the creation of premium fleeces with unique characteristics. The uniformity and consistency of each fiber length give Snowy River cloth added strength. While the whiter, cleaner fleeces allow for more efficient dye uptake, resulting in a luxurious fabric with superior color levelness and light refraction.
