Dakota HS 1095
Holland & Sherry’s Dakota collection combines a classic color palette of tan, charcoal and moss green with luxury worsted wool in varying weights and weaves. We introduce the bunch with a series of Whipcords followed by Cavalry twills and Bedford cords. All cloths illustrated are suitable for City or Country wear and are ideal for suits, trousers, riding breeches and overcoats.
A Whipcord; has more threads to the inch in the warp than it does in the weft and when woven, the weave structure accentuates the warp producing a steep bold twill line. When combined with hard twisted yarns, whipcords traditionally lend themselves to pursuits associates with the outdoors.
A Cavalry Twill; cloth produced from this was originally worn by the cavalry; it was essential that mounted soldiers word durable, protective clothing. A cavalry twill cloth is produced in similar way to the whipcord, the only difference being the weave construction. A Cavalry twill can be identified by a steep double twill formation with pronounced weft grooves between each twill line.
A Bedford Cord; is named after the town of Bedford in England. Cloths constructed in this way can be identified by the rounded ribs that run in the warp direction with a pronounced sunken line between each rib.
